“The ‘culture
of abuse’ in the Labour Government and the major political parties must stop now, completely”
Gene Alcantara, Independent Candidate for the European Parliament, said recently. “The culprits persist
in arguing that their claimed expenses were all within the rules, and they have done nothing wrong, but they are completely
missing the point. It is not the rules that are to blame, but instead the greed of politicians out to take
advantage of the lax implementation of the rules. Some politicians have actually been caught in fraudulent
activities, claiming expenses for non-existent mortgages.”
Alcantara ran for Greater London on a platform of fresh, clean and honest politics. He
believed that for too long now British politicians had only sought to advance their own interests. The
fact that they belonged to political parties, which peddled their own party lines, made it much worse as they could hide under
the skirt of party ideologies and brigade together to repulse criticism. But the people of Britain had
had enough, and we now needed a clean slate. “It is right that the Speaker finally gave in
to demands for him to resign as he played a pivotal role in prolonging and covering up sleaze in Parliament. All we need now
is to persuade Gordon Brown to call an early election so that we can rebuild fresh, clean and honest politics in Britain.”
Party politicians in
the European Parliament were not exempt from this culture of abuse, as we had seen with British MEPs caught in scandal and
fraud. The European Commission itself was riddled with fraud, its accounts not having been signed off for
the last 14 years.
“It is not just the culture of abuse however but also the dishonest politics that need to be expunged from British
politics,” Alcantara continued. “McBride and his blatant email lies about top Tory politicians
may have been removed from Downing Street, but who can tell whether this type of venom does not lie in wait for the next opposition
politician?”
“With all the hysteria over expenses and clamour for immediate general elections, people must not forget however that
danger lurks in the wings as much more distasteful politicians deny the existence of Black and Asian British, who would treat
them as deportable second-class citizens, and who would think nothing of creating fear and tension in the communities where
we live with their Whites-only ideology,” Alcantara warned.
The only way to change all this was for people to ensure that they cast their vote for viable alternatives,
which was why Alcantara stood as an Independent Candidate. The 4th June
European Elections provided the public with the first opportunity to show that they would no longer take any nonsense from
politicians of any colour who peddle dirty, dishonest and destructive politics. Alcantara insisted that,
“Instead of wasting time defending their misdeeds, politicians should be focussing on helping British citizens with
their issues and problems in this time of financial hardship.”
Alcantara urged all Londoners to think very carefully about who they would vote for on 4 June, as that date
would signal momentous change in British politics. They could influence that day so that we emerged with
fresh, clean and honest politics, and a truly fair society.
